Black Hollyhocks II

Black Hollyhocks II
Original Watercolor Painting

This is another from the series of hollyhocks I painted in my new home in Little Rock, AR. When I saw these beauties growing in my neighbor's yard. This was the first time I had ever seen them up close. Of course I ran back to the house, grabbed my camera, and began taking reference photos so I wouldn't lose a bloom.
This painting is the result of that experience.

I Can't Paint Wallpaper!

I Can't Paint Wallpaper!
Original Watercolor Painting

A customer came into my booth at a local art fair and couldn’t decide on which painting she wanted. After some thought, she asked if I do commissions. Of course, I
responded. She then brought out a swatch of wallpaper from her kitchen and asked me to paint a picture using it as my inspiration. Apparently, I didn't make my painting as dull and washed out looking as her swatch, so the sale obviously fell through. But at least now you know how I got the name for this one!

I had just moved to my new home in Little Rock, AR and saw these beauties growing in my neighbor's yard. This was the first time I had ever seen them up close. Of course I ran back to the house, grabbed my camera, and began taking reference photos so I wouldn't lose a bloom. This painting... is the result of that experience.
