About Me
- Mary-Anna Welch
- Beavercreek, Ohio, United States
- Mary-Anna Welch is an artist from Beavercreek, Ohio. Upon receiving her BFA and MA from the University of Illinois in Art Education, she shared her love of art in the private and public school systems for over 10 years. After experimenting with several different mediums, she has rediscovered her passion for painting and has settled on watercolor as her main focus. Her work in watercolors has evolved from the very abstract to a more graphic, non-traditional interpretation of her subject. She has incorporated her painting techniques that she used in oil to blend color on the canvas and translated these in her watercolor painting. This results in a blend of traditional colors and images with contemporary styles and forms. When asked about her subject matter, Mary-Anna responds, “I have a black thumb and can not grow anything but weeds. By painting my garden I will always have a rainbow of colors to enjoy no matter what season it is.” Mary-Anna continues to share her love of art by teaching art classes in her studio and at the local art center. You can find her busy painting in her studio or out at gathering ideas in a nearby garden.

Donation of Watercolor Painting to Local Charity Event
I just donated one of my floral watercolor paintings to the Aids Resource Center in Dayton, OH for their annual fundraiser. The watercolor painting is:

"Blue Roses"
It's a 9"x 12" original watercolor. I painted these roses blue because you can never find them in nature. I was intrigued by the color blue and decided to do several paintings in this hue.

Barnes and Noble in Dayton, OH
I can't believe it's August already! My garden is going haywire (yes, I will get out this week and take a picture to share). And I'm displaying my work again. This time you can find it at the Barnes and Noble Cafe' next to the Dayton Mall here in Ohio. Stop by and say hello to Gloria, the wonderful manager who invited me to show my work.
"Pucker Up" is just one of the many watercolors I have on display. It is 9" x 12" and looks even juicier in person!

Field of Daffodils
Spring was very good this year and I got tons of images to inspire me. This one was taken at a near by park. There was a huge field of yellow daffodils that just took my breath away. Here is my interpretation of these beauties.

"Field of Daffodils" Original watercolor painting 12" x 18".
